There is no such thing as a bad audience, only a bad performance

Frank Sinatra once told Tony Bennett, “There is no such thing as a bad audience, only a bad performance.” These words have become my mantra.
As a performer, I am constantly reading the crowd, scanning their energy, and using my intuition to determine how to best connect with them. Sometimes it takes an extra effort to break through their rigidity and draw them into the music.
But to truly captivate an audience, I must also leave my own worries and troubles behind and step onto the stage with a clear mind and an open heart. It’s a vulnerable position to be in, but it’s also where the magic happens.
My ultimate goal is to ignite a spark in the audience, to light them up with the same passion and energy that I bring to the stage. To do that, I must be the source of that light, giving myself fully to the crowd and living each and every moment of the performance with sincerity and honesty.
